The “OASIS RESORT” opens its doors to all those who seek a residential complex with the maximum of comforts and today’s most “IN” atmosphere. In these pine-clad hills of the dandelion Peloponnesian shore and extending to the Saronic sea, more than 2500 years, ago, echoed Solon’s acclamations of thanks to the gods of Olympus “health is found here” (thus, the name given to the area is the synthesis of the two words SOLON + HEALTH = SOLYGEIA) Why; Living, after recommendation, for a whole year as a hermit in this area with its magical climate, low humidity, air filtered oxygen – due to the pines – and the ozone of the calm windless crystal clear sea, was cured, as if by miracle, from the deadly disease of tuberculosis.
The ancient Greeks, who in their wisdom had chosen as home for their gods the secluded mountain of Olympus for its splendor and Delphi for its mysticism of prophecy, would not make a mistake in choosing such a place – a site with the most charismatic climate. Nor is it by chance that during the Golden Age with its unbelievable masterpieces of engineering and fine art found on Acropolis, would chose (after Solon’s suggestions and persistence) to build, although faraway of Athens for that time, the perfect theater of Epidauros holding 14,000 seats!
They chose this site for its ideal microclimate, enabling them to attend performances of Greek Tragedies which lasted at that time 4-5 hours (!), wearing only their light short mantles even during the month of November something which was unthinkable for Athens or other cities in Greece.
That is why the god Apollo, who was not only the god of music but also a doctor during this period (The Oath of Hippokratus the doctors take is not directed to Hippokrates as many wrongly believe but “to the doctor god Apollo and his son Aschlepios”) directed his son to build the first hospital of humanity near the Theater of Epidaurus, since during that period, and without the use of antibiotics, wounds and other diseases – both of the body and the soul – were treated with herbs and mainly with the low humidity and invigorating microclimate of Epidauros.
Next to the Asclepeion, the Temple of Apollo, and on the other side – towards Solygeia and the Isthmus – the baths of Helen of Troy.
That is because, as it is mentioned in mythology, Helen of Troy, wife of Menelaus, during his long absence due to the Trojan War, used to bathe there in a spot at the sea where the water temperature is mild even during winter, accompanied by Artemis, the hale Goddess of the Hunt.
At the spot of the Baths, there stands even today the rock from within which sprung cold, fresh water, ideal for maintaining a firm body.
That is why Helen of Troy was abducted by her much younger aristocrat, Paris.
Although her beauty was bestowed to her by the Gods, she owed her uniquely smooth skin – as it is said – to the wondrous water that sprung from the rock.
A map from the essay of Edward Kamiensky, a Polish researcher, mentions the region of Epidaurus as releasing bioenergy, the existence of which had been noted by the ancients and explains the superb health enjoyed by people that have lived for a long time along the coast of Epidaurus, in Ancient Olympia and Delphi!
It is widely known that Greece surpasses all the Mediterranean countries and even the world in general, in terms of the clarity of its seas and the beauty and ruggedness of its landscapes.
